Years
2011-2016
Bedroomer was a brand I created originally to showcase the music of a tight group of friends and collaborators in and around Toronto who made music at home. This was before streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, when DIY music was still shared primarily on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and blogs.
As the brand’s local visibility grew, it became a platform for my emerging multi-disciplinary art practice as our small team of producers, artists and DJs threw parties, hosted a radio show on Toronto Pirate Radio (TRP), released music and created installation art for our events.
The power of the brand created excitement in Toronto’s music underground for a couple years, leading to collaborations with some major promoters and opening slots for some of our musical heroes. I acted as the creative director until 2016.
